Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends of the qualitative researches in the ¡ºKorean Journal of Counseling¡» and ¡ºThe Korean Journal of Counseling and Psychotherapy¡» from 2013 to 2017. The result of the analysis showed that the number of overall researches during that period increased compared to the result of the study in 2012 and 2013. The primary research methods applied included phenomenology (37.6%), grounded theory (26.4%) and consensual qualitative research (20.8%). The study was conducted from the viewpoint of research topic, research subject, and the number of research subjects, using the methodology of phenomenology, grounded theory, and consensus qualitative analysis (CQR). In the case of consensual qualitative analysis, counselor¡¯s experience was the most frequently studied topic. In case of grounded theory, experience of trauma and difficulty and the recovery from trauma and difficulty was the mostly frequently studied topic. In the case of phenomenology, participants¡¯ experience in specific situation itself was studied the most. Based on the results of the research analysis, the implications were defined for the qualitative research in the field of counseling and suggestions were made for follow-up studies.
