Abstract The purpose of this study was to analyze serious leisure experience of motorcycle participants as a serious leisure activity. The participants began motorcycling due to out of curiosity about new things or at suggestions from those around them and gained both positive and negative experiences at the same time. As participants were involved in serious leisure activities, which hold a differentiated meaning with general leisure, it was discovered that they were cut off from other social relations during motorcycling seasons and this caused conflicts and situational, financial, locational, and temporal limitations were experienced. Based on the findings, participants encountered both positive and negative experiences at the same time, but this did not cause them to give up or cease their leisure activity. Instead, it made them exert active efforts and investment to construct distinct serious leisure experiences in accordance to their unique behavior patterns.
