Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate that the possibility of integrating grounded
theory of qualitative research and structural equation modeling of quantitative research.
This will suggest ways to improve the validity and reliability of data analysis, using mixed
research methods and will lead to deepening discussion on the mixed research methods
for practical research in fields. For this purpose, I summarized the concept of grounded
theory and structural equation model. Based on the concepts and contents, I searched
for three possible ways of the methodological integration of grounded theory (qualitative
research) and structural equation modeling (quantitative research): Theory and model
construction and verification, relation between paradigm model (grounded theory)
and latent variable (structural equation modeling), and relation between open coding
(grounded theory) and observed variables (structural equation modeling). The results of
the study is expected to deepen and expand the level of discussion on the mixed research
methods and provide academic ideas for research writing.
