Abstract This paper is aimed to understand practical cases in which a collaborative team-based
program was developed and implemented in order to promote creativity and humanity
of students. The participating elementary and middle school students presented creative
ideas and produced artifacts in team collaboration, to participate in a DI creative contest.
The annual creative project program was conducted between July 2012 and May 2013 in
K province as part of a gifted education program after school classes on weekends and
winter vacation camp. The collected data included an annual report, photos, video clips
as well as post-hoc interviews with students who participated both in the project and
the creativity olympiad contest. The main features of the program turned out to be very
similar to invention educational program which guides participating students to design
creative ideas, develop story plot and produce their artifacts, using open-end tools to
make their own invention, in team collaboration. Those students who were engaged in
scientific exploration and story-telling activities showed team dynamics to coordinate
each member¡¯s role, as well as positive responses to improve individual skills to express
themselves and their self-confidence.
