Abstract The purpose of the paper was to review pedagogical conflicts and dilemmas of a teacher educator in a graduate school of education through an autoethnography approach. The research findings and conclusions are as follows. Firstly, I, as a teacher educator in a graduate school of education, had experienced pedagogical conflict and dilemma between the role as a teacher educator focusing on academic excellence and field(school)-oriented teaching professionalism. Secondly, I, as an autoethnographer and teacher educator in a graduate school of education had also experienced pedagogical conflict and dilemma between the role of facilitating self-initiated learning of graduate students and pedagogical coaching, driven by educational authority and instruction of teacher educator. Thirdly, I, as a researcher and teacher educator in a graduate school of education, had experienced conflict and dilemma while developing, maintaining or restructuring the existing graduate school of education. These conflicts and dilemmas of a teacher educator in a graduate school of education were caused by the tension and borderline between pedagogy and andragogy in lifelong education for school teacher as an adult learner. The results and conclusions of this paper is expected to be a trigger to improve intrinsic functions of graduate school of education for developing teaching professionalism and in-service training of school teachers. Also, this paper will suggest alternative perspectives to enhance educational competence and ensure sustainable development of graduate school of education.
